The requirement for a large capacity new nursery on a constrained site meant incorporating the existing nursery building and minimising the land take for the new extension. The new build provides a much needed learning environment for the local community

Housing 80 children, the new extension houses two inter linkable activity areas which give direct freeplay access to an external play area. Support facilities are contained in the former granite nursery building and include a new family room.
The single storey extension is contemporary in its elevational treatment with the covered play area and entrance canopy being integral with the roof. The building backs onto a retaining wall to maximise playspace to the south of the site.
