Aberdeenshire Provost marks the start of Ballater Old Royal Station redevelopment
The B-listed building, owned by the council, was historically used by the Royal Family travelling to nearby Balmoral Castle and was hit by a fire which broke out in May 2015. The building had been leased to VisitScotland for the last 15 years and housed a Visitor Information Centre, restaurant, museum, clothes shop and photography business.
Halliday Fraser Munro Chief Executive, John Halliday, said: "We are delighted to be working with Aberdeenshire Council and together with the Ballater community as architects on the renewal and repair of the Royal Station. We have been tremendously impressed by the focus and importance of the building to the health and life of the town and the energy and commitment to its renewal that everyone has shown. We look forward to helping it rise from the ashes.”
