Moray Sports Centre gets Planning Approval

1 Jul 2017

Conditional Planning Permission for Moray Sports Centre was granted on 27th June.

Backed by Moray Sports Foundation the 12-acre hub will sit at the heart of a 2,500-home community to the south of Elgin offering a range of facilities including a gymnastics hall, tennis and basketball courts.

Feature curved walls at the main entrance draw visitors into the foyer space. This main space functions as a social dining and relaxing space which changes in nature as it progresses from the public face of the main entrance to the private space of the restaurant.  The main gym halls are located either side of the main foyer space with good visual links created between. Upstairs a gym and studio spaces provide views over the sports pitches to the south and the provision of classrooms allow the teaching of further education within the facility. Externally, a childrens play park, tennis courts, running track and pitches make this a valuable asset to all users within the Moray region.

Work on the cedar timber and white metal clad sports centre is expected to get underway shortly for completion by early 2019.
