Welcoming the green light for Stead’s Place redevelopment

We’re delighted that the much-anticipated redevelopment of Stead’s Place, near the foot of Leith Walk, has been given the green light this week by the City of Edinburgh Council.

We have been working closely with Drum Property Group on their ambitious proposals for the key site that are now set to become a reality. We’re confident the redevelopment will transform this part of the Scottish capital, and it’s welcome news that the Council recognises its potential.

As the lead architects on the project, we’ll be helping to regenerate this 2.9 acre site that will give new life to this area of the city.  On the site, which has been earmarked for development by the Council since 2008, existing industrial units will be replaced with 148 high-quality apartments, including 38 affordable homes. The red sandstone buildings that are currently on the site, and look onto Leith Walk, will be refurbished to offer well-positioned commercial spaces for local retailers and businesses.

After years of research, planning and local community engagement since Drum bought the site 2017, it’s great to see all the hard work reaping results.

Working with Drum, we’re now eager to proceed with the next stage of this exciting project that will ultimately benefit those who live and work in the area, as well as visitors who pass through.
